Running rich

Hey Mark, not complaining but just had a question. Since the flash/tune you did, my car is runny extremely rich. Not sure if this is normal, but every morning when I start the car...black **** shoots out about 3 feet down the driveway and when I'm driving...it smells really rich. Will a set of cams take care of this without a re-flash?

If it's just in the morning when you start it, I wouldn't worry. Does it smoke or do it when you get home? I have a similar mark in my garage as well. It's more hardware than software.

It doesn't smoke at idle, but even after it's warmed up I've had people tell me when I punch it...it shoots black smoke.

Like a little puff? It will puff out a small black smoke if it pulls timing. With winter gas it's possible....

My stock Evo shoots black smoke when I punch it. That's how we can run so much boost, lots of extra fuel is dumped in for cooling and it's not burned. If you are running cat-less or have a high-flow cat, this will be exaggerated.

Dont sweat it. The black puff is when you nail it. Of course you will be dumping fuel by doing that then the mixture corrects itself and the smoke goes away.

In the AM the exhaust has moisture in it. That is totally normal. And as for black smoke when you jump on it ... thats ok to. Its better to be a little rich than lean.
Trust me, Mark knows what he's doing. Look at my signature he gave me lotts of power!!!!

am I running rich

hi all,
today I noticed that my tail end tip exhaust are black, come from carbon deposit.
Am I running rich by look at the end tip? Please advise.
Right now I'm still not put any additional gauges in my car.
My little mod is :
BR TB 3" with BR silencer
K&N Drop in filter
Sun Hyper Volatge
Sun Grounding kit
Samco Turbo intake hose
Forge Dump Valve
thanks for any experiences and advise.
