Apparently UPS has lost my rods/pistons and they've been giving me and Mark the run-around about them. I'm pretty pissed off about that, but hopefully Mark is overnighting me a new set of rods/pistons today.

After the whole UPS screwup Mark overnighted me another set of rod/pistons. My cousin and I assembled everything and fired it off in 7hrs. The car runs smooth. My battery died on my camera but I did manage to get some pictures. Thanks to Mark, Bean, Pauly and the guys at Turbotrix for all the help with this project. They helped make this an easy build for me. I don't see why more people don't throw in a set of rod/pistons. It also helped that I was at the shop for two wks watching them build motors. Thanks also to JC(the cheap bastard), Brothers Racing, and SnR Performance for helping me out with parts and tools.

nice but i have a ? did u take the head off and just keep the block in the shell if so how hard was it for u to take the rods and such out???oh and where can i get those *** beads lol and how hard was it to do the clean up with the *** bead thingy and how long on each cylinder???

I just put the motor to TDC and zip tied the cam gears(as you would on a cam install). Then you unbolt the exhaust and intake manifolds and pull the head. Next you pull the starter and unbolt the oil cooler line and drop the oil pan. Then you unbolt the connecting rods and push them up and they will pop right out. Then you take a ball hone(*** beads) and coat it with oil and start on the cylinder walls. 1 minute of a steady up and down motion per cylinder. After than clean it off with carb cleaner and the blue shop towels. You must clean everything off very good. Then pop your new rods/pistons in.

Thanks guys. I owe a lot of thanks to the guys at turbotrix. Mark tuned my car on this wkend on the new motor/61mm turbo setup and the car f*ckin rips!!! The piping is a turbotrix uicp. I call it "the bean special" LOL

sounds good, which turbo did you end up going with, and what kind of power? The power band sounded awfully short in the video, or maybe not revved out fully?

Questions for ya.

I assume you put a STD size piston back in. Stock or aftermarket pistons? What rings and what size did you use? What ring gap did you go with? Did you use ARP rod and head bolts?

It's a 61mm turbo that Mark told me to run. The thing rips. Mark was only turning the motor to 7k, but there is plenty of powerband there on the street. It is only slightly laggier than my 50trim.

I went with wiseco drop in pistons with eagle rods and ARP fasteners.
