problem is i'm a 1,000+ miles away - should I wait until I have a few 1,000 miles on my car?

I'm interested in the Z Chip but wanted to know what the difference will be if he tuned it rather then just plug n play?

Seems Zchip responds well to stock cars. Modded cars seem to be close to maxed out before the chip. This evo x only had a exhaust, test pipe, and intake, Forge MBC, Forge Wastegate. He baselined 316 on TTP's dyno. Zchip improved 36awhp.

Still considerably good though. I wouldnt mind going from 316 to 352awhp.

I definately endorse the zchip and i definately would recommend a tune by Scott. I spent the money getting a custom tune and it was worth the money. It is always good to know when something was tailored for you specifically. My care made 349whp and 333 torque with just a K&N drop in filer, Forge mbc and the zchip. I have no complaints. I dont drag race so testing on a 1/4 mile track is not in the question for me. I will be road racing the care at Homestead or Moroso hopefully in March, so i should be able to put the car to the test fully. I think the gains on a tune are about 20-30whp extra. The best people to ask is TTP.

just kind of curious, is there even a point to add all the supporting mods then?

like if you were making 350whp with the chip would adding a exhaust still yeild the same numbers?

or increase or maybe even go down?

We are seeing ZERO improvement with any intake system.

Testpipes would likely benefit the most, followed by the catback system.

Downpipes do not appear to benefit the car.

i have the Ams intake right now should i just go back to stock?

also, intercooler or pipes? how are those doing on the chip

and just for further down the road mods, bigger turbo . do i need to get retuned for it or do i need to move on to ecutek or something like that?

Not necessarily. IC pipes make no difference and would be hard pressed to increase power output.

There are some intakes however which DO NOT MAKE POWER and instead use BCS trickery to bump boost to 26psi to increase power and torque slightly while remaining at 9-10's AFR.

We will not be recommending any of those intakes.

Interesting results and commentary...

So, really, the best bang for your buck is the Z-CHIP? Why do you even need an MBC with the Z-Chip? Can't you control the boost through the map, or does it not work that way?

Also, do you think getting similar results will be possible with custom tunes using the newly released Cobb AP?

I just want to make sure I'm reading this right. Isn't that a 91WHP gain?

You might be confusing the 2 dyno charts posted in the thread.

EVIL_EVO_VIII did a 91hp gain

The first dyno sheet was another customer and he gained 76hp

Right, I was addressing EVIL_EVO_VIII's dyno chart. He claimed it had a 96WHP gain, but I only see 91.

What's the news on stock clutch / transfer case durability with this type of power?
