Spark Tech sponsors Legend Ryan Garcia's modified RWD Evo X
PRESS RELEASE
It is our pleasure to announce the Sponsorship of Ryan Garcia's entry into the Modified RWD class. He will be utilizing the Spark Tech Sequential COP/CDI system found on many of the Fastest and Quickest late model Evo's. Spark Tech's systems currently hold the ET and MPH record on the ct9a late model Evo, now it's time to go after the 4g63 World record. This car will be campaigned in the NSCRA Modified class. Here is some more in depth info from the man himself.
"Summer 2011 is bringing the Sport Compact racing scene yet another record breaking project from legendary driver Ryan Garcia and his father/manager Brendan Garcia. Ryan and his team originally popped up on the sport compact radar in the late 90s with their SKF Bearings sponsored Mitsubishi Lancer setting records left and right and finally retiring the car in 2002 as the fastest 4G63 powered car in the world reaching high 7s and trapping beyond 170mph.
The recent resurgence in sport compact racing fueled by the smashing success of the National Sport Compact Racing Association (NSCRA) and increased attendance across all import events has brought Ryan Garcia back to the spotlight with his latest project pointed squarely at once again setting the bar as the fastest 4G63 in the world. His latest build is a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X modified to surely be the most unique Evo running at any event in the country. This Evo X, which comes stock as a 4 door all wheel drive compact sedan powered by a 4B11T 2.0L Mitsubishi engine has been converted to compete in the highly contested Modified Class as a rear wheel drive 4G63 powered 2 door testament to Ryan Garcia's commitment to innovation.
The 2 door conversion, which is the most noticeable at first look has been seamlessly completed making most wonder why Mitsubishi did not release the car in 2-door fashion from the start. No detail was neglected in the construction of this car and the final product shows the clear refinement found only in a team with the years of experience Ryan Garcia and his crew possess. In addition to the above modifications Ryan is accustomed to piloting his race car on the right hand side as opposed to the typical left hand configuration found across North America. To top things off his team converted the car to right hand drive making it the only 2 door, right hand drive, 4G63 powered rear wheel drive Evo X on the planet.
Because of Brendan Garcia's 10 years of management experience and impeccable eye for details he triple checks everything and shows extreme diligence with their latest 4G63 creation. The chassis and body on the car are simply top notch, but don't think he's done with the car just yet, Ryan is a perfectionist and constantly having tweaks made to further refine the performance and look of his Evo X. The engine was personally assembled by Ryan who also drives the car and is sure to make the current world record look like last week's news as he once again sets the bar by which all other 4G63 cars are measured. In preliminary testing the car has already seen very high and reliable power levels, Ryan always puts reliability first as it takes not just power, but also consistency to set records. Another feat Ryan and his team have accomplished is perfecting the clutch selection and calibration for their extremely high output 4 cylinder turbocharged motor. Clutch calibration is key to efficiently getting all that power to the ground and really separates the seasoned teams from the less experienced teams on the circuit. The car's sponsors, SKF United Bearings and United Auto Performance are sure to be pleased when the Evo X makes it's official debut and walks right into the 200mph club.
Keep an eye out for Ryan Garcia's Evo X at the upcoming NSCRA events in 2011/2012 as well as many other major automotive events and races across the United States, and of course, on a magazine cover in your favorite tuner shop."
