AEM Tru-Boost review
Well, I finally got a AEM Tru-boost. I ordered it off the web for $260 shipped from (if you want to know PM, I don't know if they are vendor here). Well, friday the box arrives, I'm all excited, open the box box and BLAM! Wrong freaking gauge, they sent a AEM Uego . I called them up expecting a recording, but someone actually answered the phone. The guy said "Doh, hold on a sec". Then "I have the correct part in my hand, I'll send you a packing slip for the Uego and the Tru-boost will arrive overnight for saturday delivery". I was a happy camper, and yes the Tru-boost showed up at 10:30am saturday.
Following instructions for installing other types of gauges I in the "How-to" I was able to get the tru-boost lines and hose routed into the engine bay and get the boost do'hicky installed (do'hicky is a technical term if your originally from the backwoods of Missouri like me). I then proceeded to go through the configuration which wasn't too difficult.
Then I spent the next hour trying to figure out why I couldn't boost past 12 psi or so. Checking, swapping, re-swaping, re-checking, everything and anything... to find out I had it set to OFF so it was just using the wastegate which is why I couldn't get more than 12 psi of boost. Set it to A, and at 56% duty cycle is hitting 20.3 psi and tapering to 18 psi at redline. My wastegate on the tru-boost is set to 11.5 atm, it works great where it's at so I probably won't mess with it.
I column mounted it, and all the supplied hoses/cables were plenty long. Overall a fairly easy install if you have a few hand tools and a little patience. Give yourself 2 hours to do it right (run the wires cleanly etc, wire for power). I could probably do it in an hour if I really had to now.
Btw, the install was easy for me since I already had a MBC and could reuse the hoses instead of dismantling the intake (again) or that plastic tray under the car.
The thing looks great, works better, and am VERY happy with it.

Does the tru-boost gauge read vacuum with a minus sign infront of it? and the psi with tenths? like 15.7 psi. Cause I have the AEM boost gauge just hooked up, didn't need the tru-boost since i have an EBC...but it's killing me that there is no minus infront of the vacuum reading or more precise boost readings. Regardless it's still a kick *** gauge.

I'll see if I can take some pictures tonight when I get home.
I have it pretty well dialed in now. 20.3 peak boost holds 19 to 6500 rpm 18.5 the rest of the way. I'm going to see if I can shorten it up some more.

I got mine dialed in when I got tuned by Jestr on the dyno. I hold @ 24 lbs tappering down to 22 lbs. I'm very happy with my tru boost gauge.

Doesn't use "spring pressure", uses duty cycle in %. I have the wastegate set at 11.5 psi and currenly running 56% duty cycle for 20.3 peak, holding 19psi.
All these central jersey people, and I never see any other evo's roaming around.
