Forge Evo15, 1st impressions!

I just got the Forge Evo15 recirculating valve thanks to a great service from TTP

Upon comparing the stock vs Forge Blue Spring, i was really surprised to find out that i could easily push the Forge's piston with the Blue spring (23~30psi spring) while the stock valve spring was twice as hard to push in..

I then added the shims and the resistance was a bit harder, but not as hard as the stock's own!! So i'm a bit sceptical about this but then again, it's a Forge!

Though my car is still untuned, I did manage to get some boost trials (maxed 10psi) and all i can say is that this valve is LOUD!!! It releases air just like an atmospheric BOV!

Now the car is fully ready for the tune..

Comments welcome!

Wael

I recommend red spring at minimum for all Evo's (included in your kit) and add both shims for meth injection or racefuel applications.

Good to hear the feedback! I talked to Forge Motorsports on the phone earlier this week and they recommended either the Evo15 or the RS for my Evo1. They were out of stock, but said they'd have some within a week so I'm hoping to pick one up when I go to Orlando in 2 weeks. I will be staying literally 5 mins from their place.

You would be even closer to TTP near Orlando International Airport and we have them in stock in black and polished.

i have one itit works great. but it does flutter about 5% of the time
i thought the red spring was only for high boost like 30psi +?
what spring should work best for pump gas 21-22 psi ?

Blue should work well for that boost level.

does the red spring flutter as well? this is not very pleasing. . .I was hoping it would hold as well as the MR DV. . .

Flutter is not a result of a valve not holding. It is a result of it sealing TOO WELL on top of a strong spring pressure.

The stock plastic valve does not flutter because it leaks and was designed that way to improve driveability.

I have run the Evo15 valve to 40psi boost on an Evogreen on meth injection.

I'm sorry to be such a noob with regards to the DV setup, but I'd like to consolidate some of the facts from TTP so it's clear for everyone.

1. The blue spring is fine for stock Evo's running 21-22 psi boost max?
2. The red spring is fine for modified Evo's running 21psi boost and beyond?
3. 2 shims that were provided in the kit should be added if methanol or race fuel are added due to boost past 25-26psi?

I plan on running 21-22psi max and am wondering what the "ill" effects of using the red spring are, since it was stated up above all Evo's should use the Red Spring as a minimum.

Sorry for the confusion, I would just like to clarify the responses from above.

You'll probably see some flutter trying to hold the car part throttle slowly letting off. If you're looking for a DV that will not flutter, it won't hold as much boost. That's your trade off, part throttle flutter or more boost. Just adjust the way you drive and you'll be fine.

Installed my Evo15 BOV today that I got from TTP (great service ) and I was really impressed with it! From what I understand, my Evo (Evo I) comes with a stock boost of 9 psi and I have mine cranked to 16psi with the spring that came in the BOV and it runs perfectly fine. I am now able to hold boost as the other BOV leaked pretty badly. I'm really satisfied with the BOV!

Sounds like a nice BOV worth looking into.

Bump for a confirmation on the questions above.
