Tym Switzer Tuned!!!- Dyno Inside

Finally got my baby on a dyno today...

It's an '05 with a set of comp cams 280's, an ebay o2 housing, Megan turbo back exhaust, 255 walbro and a forge boost controller...

Pump gas (93 oct., 21 psi) This is how the car rolled in on a base flash... I was really shocked...I knew it ran good but I didn't expect this for an E-Mail special

Tym Decided that the A/F and timing were good and the curve was so smooth, plus I already had my boost set where he considers optimal for pump gas, that there wasn't a need to do anything else to that map.... Saved me some $$$$ for sure, because then we just went right for the race gas...

In went the C-16.... along with it a Forge DV, as my plastic stocker wouldn't go past 24 psi... along with a K&N drop in.... we also discovered my BR8ES plugs were getting killed with lead lol, we put in a set of BPR8ES, and they seemed to smooth the power out and had no hiccups on the top end

Tym spent some time smoothing things out and got the HP to hold up top over 320 WHP, with a peak on one run of 379, this run here has my best wheel torque... the average runs were 405 to 407...

I have to say I am really happy with the results,on a hot muggy day, for so little invested, It seems to be liking the parts I've gotten for it... I wish of course with 410 FT/LBS that I could hold more power to redline... No, I'm not complaining!

After reviewing the data logs from my last trip to the track (pump gas) it looks like I might need to try to land my shifts a little lower and get into that 4300-4500 rpm area, I'm crazed to get back to the track now and try it out

The first curve looks terrific....what a rare bargain.

In the second curve, it is painfully clear that your turbocharger is pooping out, and you have a turbocharger working outside it's efficiency range...as evidenced by the premature power peak, and the huge drop off in trq.

On the other hand, you have some basic mods, and good power...so enjoy!

Its the stock 8 turbo, but an '05 so it has the bigger hotside... thanks for the congrats... now I just have to buy some C16 and see what I can do! Luckily, my friend has two 55 gallon drums of it that he stores properly

I was suprised how the power rolled off on race gas over pump gas, but it's kind of my learning phase... now I understand a little more about efficiency ranges and why this turbo is so good on this car, and the comprimises I'd have to make if I want to go bigger next year... I'm also starting to understand why some turbos are no good on pump gas and some are much better on pump than race

Thanks! I raced today, had some traction problems and bad 60's but managed a best of 12.08 @ 116... that was with a crappy 1.80 60'... I wanted 11's so bad but I took 2nd in the stock appearing Evo vs. Wrx/Sti shootout, so I'm happy with that lol

Not so much as I would have thought, but 4th gear feels alot stronger...

I fear that after riding in some of my friends evo's that I have become de-sensitized to speed
