I have the same thing....and even the Evo is blue..a very nice exhaust, easy to install and very quiet...for the stealth approach to power.

Is the sound clips recorded with a 3" downpipe and a test pipe?

Yes the cat back section of the mid pipe has a bung for an o2 sensor.

I think I'm gunna get this one, but I'm not very good mechanically, will it fit in where the stock one was or is there any work you have to do?

It should just bolt up. Remove the old one with hand tools and than replace it with the Tanabe piece. 1 hour job, tops!

Tanabe Medalion is probably one of the best exhaust systems on the market. Its quiet, stock like (stealth), and also 3".

We highly recommend this setup if you don't want the po po to hassle you for loud exhaust.

Always in stock at Speed Element! (shameless plug)!

Looks like they neck it down to slip in flange and then weld.

Most of the exhaust is 80 mm OD tubing = 3.15" OD. The Tanabe necks down to around 2.9" OD at the cat flange. 2.9" is still plenty big.
