Tanabe exhausts are lighter than stock by up to 40%. The entire exhaust system is contructed from SUS304 Stainless which is an extremely strong and lightweight material, and allows us to use a thinner 1.2mm walled piping compared to our competitors. We also use stainless pressed flanges where exhaust temperature permit and hollow hangers. Whether it is lighter than the RSR exmag, I am not sure, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what Tanabe does to address weight.

Inside the straight flow through muffler, it tapers down to ~2.75 inches give or take)
I measured it using a piece of cardboard taped on to a long screw driver. I kept trimming the cardboard until it was able to slide in and out of the taper easily.
Here are some pictures of the taper. Notice it is inside the straight flow through muffler.
Further view from outside the exhaust tip.
Closer view from inside the exhaust Tip. The arrow points at the taper end.

Hope this helps,
Oh and since it was asked, this exhaust fits perfectly with the stock downpipe and cat system with superb quality.

I went from Greddy ti catback to Tanabe Medallion just last week. Its like night and day difference. The Tanabe sounds just a bit louder than stock and I have full TBE.
Although I do feel a little bit of backpressure when accelerating but its a good trade off for not being the loudest car on the streets =P
