Amsoil Series 2000 0w30 small review
Today i decided to change my engine oil again. on my previous oil the car saw some track use and after that it stayed stationary for over a month as i was on vacation and i upgraded my tranny...
Wanted to try something different and i decided to go a bit lighter than the 10w30 i ve been using until now.
Until now i ve used:
- Mobil 1 10w30
- Redline 10w30
and now Amsoil Series 2000 0w30
from such a light oil i exptected to see a much smoother engine operation, smoother idle and the engine to rev more freely.
i have to say that what i expected, i saw it all and actually i am very impressed!!!
The engine sounds quieter from the block to the valvetrein and runs much more smoothly. The idle is much smoother too but what really impressed me is the fact that the engine revs faster!
i am not worried about the strength on time from this lightweight oil for two reasons...
First i never leave an engine oil in the car for more than 3000 miles. On two things i dont spare money... the engine oil and spurkplugs... both very crutial parts for the performance and the health of the engine...
Secondly i dont really abuse the car every day. Mostly i drive it like every regular car to work and back and occiassionaly i give it some go. The car is pushed hard only at the track...
Also since the temps in New York started to drop i think a lighter oil will be better when starting up the engine in the morning...
Next week i will visit the track and see how this oil holds on some abuse...
Anyone else using this oil?

Seems like there is a paradigm shift regarding thoughts on which oils to use in turbo cars now adays. The more and more you read, super low weight synthetics are taking the cake for long term wear protection and cold start.
How much a quart was this stuff?

I ONLY use Amsoil in my cars. In my commuter Subie I run 10K mile intervals and on the Evo I just switched to 10W-30 Amsoil. Great stuff.
When I used to own the STi (which is notorious for burning oil) I noticed Mobil1 and Royal Purple would burn off a little. I switched to Amsoil, and even after 5K miles of Arizona heat, autocross, and part of a 2K mile road trip, no measured oil was lost!!!!!!! I am a believer!

I'm glad someone made a review over this EXACT oil.
I've been going crazy reading about AMSOIL since I recently stumbled across this oil.
The main thing that's driving me crazy though is that they advertise 35,000 MILES per oil change!!!!! This is on regular cars though, and of course ours don't apply, but there is supposed to still be an extended oil drain interval to go by.
I'd like to know how long this stuff will last, I've been speaking with a rep from AMSOIL(Robert Riley) and he told me the oil would be good for at least 9,000 Miles, which perfectly justifys the cost. If the benefits are as good as the OP says, it should be worth it anyways.
To the OP: are you using the EAO filter with your oil too?

Although, your rewiew of the oil is on par with many others, I'd suggest you get the oil tested. Send a used oil sample to either Dyson Analysis or Blackstone to get some hard information about how well your oil is taking care of your engine. Unfortunely, Evos tend to carry a high fuel saturation in the oils (as most turbo cars do), which can cause a higher flashpoint in any oil. A high flashpoint will cause you oil to evaporate if that, fuel soaked oil has reached that flashpoint. Some oils can control the saturation better than others. I think Amsoil is a great oil, just don't go blind do your own testing.
