NEW Release! ZEITRONIX ZR-1 Gauge review!

After a LOOOOONG wait, Zeitronix has finally released their ZR1 LED AFR Wideband gauge with Lamba and peak hold options.

Stylish, machined aluminum bezel and slim enclosure gives the gauge an elegant appearance.
High contrast LED display.
Large 0.4" (10mm) digits.
Slim design for flexible gauge mounting options.
Programmable as AFR or Lambda gauge.
Peak and Hold feature.

The Gauge works with the Zeitronix Zt-2 Wideband AFR meter and Datalogging System. The ZR-1 plugs into the Zt-2 DATA port.
For clean and easy plug and play installation, power and serial data is supplied from the Zt-2 DATA port. The ZR-1 cable length is 5 ft (1.5m)
MOUNTING OPTIONS

The ZR-1 gauge is only 6/8" (19mm) thick and can be surface mounted almost anywhere inside the car cabin using a piece of Velcro or double sided tape. The ZR-1 base allows the gauge to be mounted in a standard 2” 1/16 (52mm) gauge pod. For additional mounting options the package includes 2 set screws and 2 nuts.

ZR-1 gauge dimensions:
Base diameter 2" 1/16 (52mm)
Bezel diameter 2" 1/2 (62mm)
Thickness 0.75" (19mm)
Digit height 0.4" (10mm)

Now I have taken the liberty to grab one of the first test units and play around with some different installation locations and lighting conditions. In the last few days of testing, the unit is working flawlessly and the mounting options are endless.

Below find a few different shots of mounting locations I tooled around with in the first 10 minutes of opening the package.

Ease of install is a 1 out of 10.

Quality is a 10 out of 10.

Looks and style is a 10 out of 10.

I really like this thing and even though I have the LCD screen, I am going to keep this circular gauge also.

Instructions can be found by clicking here

Pricing is listed at $139 for the new ZR1 gauge with brushed aluminum bezel.

It requires the minimum of the ZT2 base wideband in order to hook up to.

It can be used separately or WITH the LCD 4 x parameter screen or by itself.

We will be adding it to www.ttp-engineering.com/store today if anyone is interested in learning more about it's features.

Spoke to Zeitronix and they recommend either/or on the LCD display or the brushed aluminum bezel gauge.

Personally I will continue to run both to see if I can torture test the zt2 control box and see how durable it is. We are still running our unit from 3+ years ago, trouble free.

Remember also that zeitronix is one of the only companies that offers an upgrade service to future firmware upgrades much like the VALENTINE ONE radar detector!

looks like, did you mean ease of install 10 out of 10 instead of 1? =)

10 out of 10 is an extremely complex install...
1 out of 10 is something like swapping tire valve stems for the flashy ones
