Would a dealer know the service history on your car?

Would a dealer know the service history on your car?
Does anyyone know if dealerships would know the service history of your car if you called them up and give them your VIN number? By this, I mean if you used different dealers during the course of having your car serviced. This is for an EVO of course!

My dealership is awesome. When i bought my evo from them, they gave me the full servicing history. I was even able to talk to the guy who owned it before me. The dealership called him and asked him if it was ok for me to contact him.

I work at a Toyota Dealer.....You will only be able to see the history at that particular dealer. Stuff like Warranty claims and such will show up anywhere.
