PPI ported intake & 65mm throttle body reviewed!
I was planning on doing this review on the evogreen 20g setup but when the parts arrived I already sold that setup. So this review was done on my HTA 35R kit from Buschur and Forced Performance on 93 octane (no meth etc..)
ordering - easy as pie
shipping - fast
package - perfect
no issues whatsoever.
Install - difficult, there's a bunch of nuts and bolts to remove and a few that are hard to reach. I recommend giving yourself a day to do the swap so you have plenty of time. There's a ton of brackets/bolts that I didn't put back on so it'll be 10x easier next time I have to pull the intake off.
I inspected the new parts from PPI and the port work looks good, they clearly shaved off some meat around the intake runners to improve the already good stock gasket match job. The went on down into the runners a bit to straighten things out a bit too. On the throttle body side of the intake they hogged out the opening and provided a bigger gasket to match.
The throttle body clearly has a larger butterfly and opening on both ends. It looks like they also shaved the inlet lip a bit to allow more airflow.
I installed the ported intake and 65mm TB from PPI....dialed in the tuned within a few hours (started with new injector scaling from scratch) and got a new best g-tech
previous was 1.85 60, 11.55 @ 124.79 on the street spinning
new is 1.83 60, 11.44 @ 126.10 on the street spinning
I had to pull 1* of timing from 7000 to redline because the load instead of dropping to 280 is holding more like 300kpa now.
I did a DLL pull and oddly it showed 475awhp yet the e.t. and mph are up considerably. I think it's because I pulled that timing so it wouldn't knock when I get into 4th and I did the DLL in 3rd gear where it wasn't knocking to begin with.
Driveability feels the same to me, no surprises or funny spots...feels great.
pics... I broke the nipple off on of the egr related solenoids...that's about 70.00 at the dealership.. doh!
the tool box was a Christmas present from the wifey.
I didn't disconnect the fuel lines or injectors, just unbolted the fuel rail and moved it out of the way.
The rest of the pics are pretty much self explanitary but let me know if you have questions. Hopefully Wayne aka PPI will step in and field questions about the process/pricing an any other details I didn't touch on.
Thanks PPI for working with me on this project!

I didn't drain any fluids during the install, when I disconnected the coolant hoses from the throttle body I shoved a bolt in the hose so it wouldn't drip. The bracket in the above pic was a pain in the ***. it's only 4 bolts but difficult to get to, it didn't go back on

they sent me a modified gasket for the tb.
I would check the tune to make sure it's okay...I had to pull some timing
