A warning about Innovate LC-1

I wouldn't post this unless I had good reason... but I would like to extend a word of caution to those considering purchasing an Innovate LC-1 Wideband.

I've had the unit for 8 months or so, and it has been mostly OK, with a few hiccups here and there. Because of it's accuracy and compatibility with EvoScan and other products, I've recommended it to many people.

Of the 7 people that I've recommended it to who have purchased it, 3 had major problems with it (unit stopped working completely).

After having our vendor who works with Innovate products daily and manufacturers gauges and accessories for them double-check that we weren't doing something wrong, he confirmed that the units were in fact defective from the factory.

The scary part was that this particular vendor told us that based on the past few months, he will stop selling Innovate products because of the poor quality he has seen. He has received 20+ defective units in a short period of time, and is moving to a different brand.

I have no idea if other Innovate products carry the same defect, and I don't wish to bad mouth Innovate as a whole. Just trying to get the word out to those that may be having LC-1 problems, or to those that are considering purchasing one... you should probably reconsider (or at least ensure you have a cooperative vendor who will accept a return)

I got one installed two weeks ago and so far have had no problems with it. I read all the forum posts on Innovate's website with all the problems but what I like about Innovate is that they stand behind their product if something is wrong.

Innovate did post a note about being careful about buying ebay products with their name.

So there is a line of product that is fake.

I don't think shameless'ess Innovate was fake, it just may be that innovate"s manufacturer is having problems.

Mine has worked well for several years, as have all the innovate items I have used.
In other words, I don't know what to think, if innovate is having growing pains or what.

I do know I trust Klaus, just based on his answers in the forums.

From having to recalibrate the sensors very frequently, I have seen gauges go blank a few times.
