Yes, it retains the stock ECU in the car. Hooks up like a piggyback.

So it isn't a full blown EMS then?

It hooks up with the stock ecu in the car. It controls all the fueling/timing etc. etc. But the stock ecu will control Fan cooling/dashboard controls and such. You can run speed density and it is basically a standalone. It works int he same fashion.

I have it on my car and run it like that and well the difference between a flash is night/day.

If you could find someone in your area to tune it, I would do it hands down. It starts up the first time..every time. No need to crank to wait like the aem.

It can only be tuned by Certified HKS Tuners... this is a good thing This ensures that it is done properly and that the FCon performs the way that HKS engineered it to. It may be a little difficult to locate someone in your area that is certified, however, once you do it is beyond worth it.

Unfortunately, I don't want to have to pay someone to make changes everytime i make changes to my setup. Especially since the nearest dealer is so far.

Hello to all. Are all HKS FCON V PRO the same? Just the wiring harness differ? Cause I have one that came out of a Skyline R32 GTR. Can I use it in my evo6? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Yes, I believe the WRX one is the only car specific one(possibly), you should be good with an evo harness.

sti one is specific known as type b.

All the other boxes can interhange with the use of the vehicle specific harness for your application.

Phenix your dealer can setup mixure and trim control so you can make changes.

How much "leash" are the authorized dealer able to give the end user? Meaning control over fuel and ignition?

The dealer/tuner can give the end user the ability to switch maps for such things like race fuel, meth, scramble boost, N20, 2 step ect..utilizing the camp 2 or navigator or mixute switch. Howeve modifying the actual maps such as fuel and timing values are not allowed. A properly tuned Fcon will never have to be retuned unless you make drastic changes like a turbo or injectors, ect...

The units , except the subaru ones can be used on different cars, by moving certain dip switches, and internal jumpers..I just ordered my Evo hanress and it should be here by monday, Im taking the fcon unit from my 350Z and utilizing it in my evo.

I cant drive another day on this reflash its killing me..Between the 14mpg fuel economy and the bucking bronco part throttle tune, Im going crazy. Once you go with an Fcon, you can not imagine how you drove before. Right now my car is WOT or nothing, impossible to road race or drive half throttle...Ill post up before and after dynos as soon as I am done. Generally I do about 3-4 hours of road tuning prior to doing the WOT dyno tune.

It is a great unit, and i recocmend if you have an authorized dealer and tuner in your area, looking into it. it will be the best investment you ever made in your EVO..

I just put the Fcon in my car tonight and did some preliminay street tuning. I foucsed on drivability and got the car running sooooo much smoother over the reflash. Also I noticed on the reflash my SES light would come on for a P0420 code.

The P0420 code was due to a voltage difference that was too great from the front to rear OEM O2 sensors. When we checked the short term fuel trims with the Scanner, we oserved the primary O2 sesnor to be all over the place from 59MV to over 800MV, where the rear one stayed within the 59-80MV range.

The bottom line was that the OEM ECU could not effectively control the larger injectors and keep the car ideling properly. It was fluctuating the Short term fuel trims to much to adjust for the larger injectors. This would throw a code after 5-20 miles of driving. When driving on the old reflash we would see variences of A/F ratios from 18.5- 10.0 when tipping in the throttle slightly and crusing. The AF was always fighting to keep stoich.

Since the addition of the Fcon we have driven over 45 miles and no SES light for the P420 code, and no misfire codes either! I am not saying the Fcon fixed my codes, however what I am saying is that the reflash that was in the car when I aquired it, was done so poorly that the tune itself would cause misfire codes and O2 codes due to the fluctuation of the A/F range...It almost seems as if whoever tuned it, only did wide open throttle on the dyno and never part throttle or road tuned it...

Basically the car drove like crap, but was fast at WOT... Now it is BOTH with the addition of the FCON..

I will be off to the Dyno tommorow to do a comparison between the old tune and the new tune. I expect a few more HP and a VERY SMOOTH HP curve.

The resolution and interpolation on the Fcon is superior to that of the stock ECU and I highly suggest it you have the extra money to invest, get an FCON, you will love daily driving your high HP evo once again!!!
