Buschur Race FMIC performs Flawlessly as Advertised!!
First I want to say thanks to Mike at AWD for getting me the Buschur race fmic in only 3 days!!
A summary of my setup: I built my setup this spring with the intention to keep cost at a reasonable level yet be competitive in local track events. Parts are Garrett 3582r, full race manifold, Weisco 9.0:1 pistons, pauter rods, BR 272 cams, kiggley springs/ret, BR ported IM, 65mm TB, AMS 1000hp fuel setup, 1200cc inj, BR Coil-on-Plug, AEM ems tuned by Chris at AMS, and BR delux fmic.
The car has gone 108mph in the 1/8th (let off since I have no cage ) with much more track time to come. After reviewing the logs, I noticed the air intake temps going through the roof. I was going from approx 80* to 136ish at the end of 1/4 mile on one run and 84* start going to 140 at the end!! So I knew I had to do something about this, I immediately looked at the BR delux, that was obviously out of its league. I made a call to Mike at AWD as I have bought a few parts from him before, and he agreed, that intercooler had to come out. I ordered up a Buschur race fmic on Tuesday and it arrived Friday morning!!
I installed it that afternoon, with a couple little issues. (my only complaint) the tape used to hold the cardboard to the intercooler was brown packaging tape, and that did not like coming off the aluminum.
The other issue was due to my licp not be the BR one recommended.(my fault)
fmic installed before bumper, as you can see I painted the top of the intercooler, that way from above you can't tell how thick it is, and so you can't see what marks that damn tape left!!
Once installed, I took it for a ride and did some logs, immediately I saw a HUGE difference in intake temps. A two gear pull in 3rd and 4th showed increase of only 4.5 degrees!!
The log below is from today (pump gas at 20psi), ambient temp was 80*-85* and muggy. Starting intake temps were 85*-86* and ending temps after a 3rd gear pull to 8200rpm were 88*-89*!! WOW!!
To put this in perspective, the day before at similar temps, humidity, time of day, and same highway I saw intake temps go from 88* to 113* in just a 3rd gear pull!!
Again, Big thanks to Mike at AWD, Buschur for supplying the Evo community with a lot of great parts, Chris at AMS for tuning the car,Bill at MA Performance for shipping me with a few big parts at last minute, and last but not least, thanks to Dan Bajalis. Over the last 3-4 years I have known him, he became a great friend that helped me progress in racing and in life, all while we both learned quite a bit about evo's in both of our garages

I love having the Buschur Race FMIC at the nose of my Evo. It's proven itself to be the best IC available time after time, can't wait till my AEM ems is in so I can log the nice and cool intake temps myself
Big to Mike from AWD as well...great vendor to deal with!

It actually mounts 1/2" or so higher than my previous intercooler. I could easily fit a undertray on the car (actually will be making one out of aluminum

BR Race core has been the best FMIC I could have bought. On the dyno you can put you hands on the hot side of the FMIC and it's hot, move it to the cold side and it's cold. Nice to do a easy test to know it's working ... LMAO!
Great info OP, thanks for your data!
