gotta disagree with you on that one ted, 1.06 is about as small as i would go with a 40R on a 2.0. the 1.19 would make more sense for his indub's 2.4L... we have spent a lot of time testing the 40R and various housing a/r's on many different engines and displacements

I know you have, and your experience with it is far greater than mine. But just so you'll follow my reasoning, I am thinking more along the lines of where to draw the best compromise for street applications, and not necessarily for what makes the best dedicated Q16 or VP Import powered drag car, which always trades transient response for peak power.

In a previous case, we have a 2.3L 40R motor that demonstrated 750+whp on race fuel with a 0.94 A/R TS T4, hits 40psi of boost by 4200rpm, and whose optimum shift point falls around 8k rpm (a good limit for a 100mm stroke). I'm not sure we're doing ourselves any favors by trading spool time for a nickel or dime worth of peak power that necessitates us to spin the motor harder, even if it means a little less boost pressure is required. How much more can we get from a 40R compressor anyway?

With a 2.0L, we can apply an approximation of these results, but we need to move everything upward in the rpm range by several hundred rpm to account for the difference in displacement. So, already the same turbine side has us trading off transient response at any given rpm for the same approximate power potential. With a 42R being able to deliver 1000+whp with a 1.15 A/R TS T4 (and needing plenty of rpm to do it), do we really need something that large for a 750whp turbo, and for a street application at that?

Just my €0.02

Absolutely sick that the car is boosting at 4200. Thats a big turbo. And to feel that kind of torque in an evo must be crazy......something is going to break.
