SNEAK PEEK: New Nitto NT05 Tires *PICS*

UPDATE ON PAGE 2!

I was able to get my hands on a set of new Nitto NT05 tires prior to their release in February. The tires look really nice...a lot like a "street friendly" version of the more aggressive NT555R or NT01. They are definitely a high performance tire. I'll be mounting these up to a new set of 18x 9.0 Enkei RC-T4 rims shortly for some real world testing. I'll post up the results asap.

Nitto NT05 Specs:
Performance Rating: W
Treadwear: 200
Traction: AA
Temperature: A

More info here: http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent05

Check out the pics

Nice...they looks somewhat similiar to my RE01R's but obviously are better. Might have to snag a set come summer.

Indeed, I've read it already but just looking for more opinions, can't go wrong with that.

I should be able to test them in both dry and wet conditions due to the weather in Southern California right now. I'll post it up asap.

Any ideas on pricing for these tires. I'm looking to buy a set of summers in 2009. Was set on the Direzza Z1's, but these look really nice. Hope price is the same! I like those bang for the buck purchases...

Is the compound on these the same as the NT01's?

The RE01Rs are second to the Z1 Star Specs. I am curious to where these will fit in. This season is r-comp season for me.

NT01 > Z1 Star Spec > RE01R's > RT615's > everything else (more or less)

You probably have more experience on this than I do, but do you really think that is true? The tirerack reviews seem to favor the RE-01 for ultimate dry, but lose to the Z1 in wet and driving comfort. I'm curious to understand your opinion on this. I rather believe in user reviews than a distributors antics to get us to purchase the tires! BTW, thanks for the agreement in the suspension/brake section!
