Sheides, sorry if I missed it, but is your bottom end stock or built? This looks like an extremely well thought out put together setup. Can't wait to see results.

Thanks! I'm really happy with the setup on my car; Kracka and I have compiled all our knowledge with stuff that works and made the 'how to mod your evo $100 at a time thread' ....see that for more info Yes, stock bottom end. This turbo is perfect for all evos imho, but especially those looking to safely make great power on the stock motor.

Thanks for the review. It sounds like the BBK route is perfect for what I am looking for.

Good info...thanks!

Obviously can see the Perrin filter but what intake pipe? Buschur?

Do you have a list of all your mods? What 02 housing are you running?

These are his power mods that I can think of; Scheides is out of town so I'll cover for him:

CBRD BBK turbo w/ported exhaust housing
Pump gas + alcohol injection
Buschur TBE w/testpipe
GM BCS
Buschur ported/coated exhaust manifold
Buschur coated SS o2 housing (same as a Megan)
Buschur Deluxe FMIC with Buschur LICP/UICP
Kelford 272 cams w/ GSC beehive springs
Evo IX BOV
Buschur intake pipe with Vibrant MAF adapter and Perrin air filter
Buschur ported IM/65mmTB
FIC 1050cc injectors
Walbro 255HP fuel pump

Update, I hit the dyno. Unfortunately I'm not near the numbers I expected; fortunately, I hit the dyno just before installing the BBK for a baseline, and I'm up 50whp from my stock IX turbo. Unfortunately during the baseline I was down 60whp from the last time I was on this dyno, so I am at a bit of a dejected spot right now. The car is still fun as hell though, and with the alky on its never felt like it does now. At 7500rpms I'm up about 85whp.

Stay tuned...

He did a leak-down test and 3 of his 4 cylinders aren't in prime condition so a rebuild is coming

Figured out some of my issues recently and got on the dyno today at MitsuStyle.com spring dyno day.

Car is NOT TUNED for the current setup, BLOWING COOLANT, and burning oil.....and a small (but notable) boost leak! So, it's safe to say these are sub-par numbers

Dyno'd at DB Performance on their Dyno Dynamics, 1.0 correction. ~60 °F.

Pump gas: ~24psi, mid 11's AFR's, 374whp/323wtq.

Pump gas + meth/water injection: ~29psi, mid 11's AFR, 394whp/371wtq

I ***ing love this turbo.

Some info here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...thy-motor.html

Further diagnosis on the motor needed. compression numbers are ok, but leakdown numbers are not so hot: 13% 10% 8% 2%. It burns quite a bit of oil and it was puking coolant during every high boost run on the dyno, and every high boost pull on friday before hitting the dyno. Def needs something done, the car is still driven daily so we'll see how it runs on just pump gas. If I am just cruising and not boosting, the car runs/drives completely normal, very reliable. I just did a HG job on it last fall, looks like the head will be coming back off here soon
