rexpeed Vortex Generator Review with install tip

This is my 2nd Vortex Generator From Rexpeed

My first one did not fit well. It was ok but it was not flush in the front right in front of the antenna base. I lived with it for the last 2 years. I took it off and ordered a new one. I have a evoIX with Sunroof

Now i figured that the problem was the mold where the antenna base fits into was too tight. I used my dremel and sanded out the antenna base area of the VG, focusing the section that transitions from the flat portion to the antenna section. I took out quite a bit of plastic but not more than 1/2 of the thickness of the vg.

Test Fit and was good.
Installed and is perfect.

The overall paint finish is OK. Fit is perfect with some modification.

For any of you who have the Rexpeed VG and have that annoying gap in front of the antenna base this is a good fix for that.

I sure hate when I buy a brand new part and have to go and modify it to fit.. I guess that is what you get some times when you buy cheaper Taiwanese, Chinese made parts

This took a while to get, decided to take off the vg because the supplied tape that rexpeed used was not good enough.

I used scotch brand super heavy duty 1" double sided tape.

You can see where i dremeled out the center hole area where the antenna base fits.

I also dremeled the side areas to add some clearance to fit better.

I finally sanded the entire underneath, the vg had paint overspray which would not be an ideal surface for the double sided tape to stick to. I also used alcohol to clean everything up.

I also made sure the i provided plenty of tape in front of the area where the antenna base fits to make sure this area did not come up and cause a gap.

need to take picture of final install on car, will try to upload later. (i did all this at night so no pics)

like i said the paint quality is strictly ok. For the overall price of the product it is not bad at all. You can see what looks like orange peel, but it is not bad.

I give it an overall solid "B" grade for paint quality.

Make sure to sand underneath before install, there was alot of paint overspray which will hinder tape adhesion

funny that you ask about antenna in a rexpeed post. i am using the rexpeed cf shorty antenna. fits perfect, looks sexy as hell, and have not noticed any sort of decreased reception with the antenna, and its reasonably priced. check their website
