got you.

the OP has a type he meant 10W30, thats what his car is been running from day 1, and that what the sponsorship provided him with 10W30 RD series.

My oil cap says "Fully Synthetic Oil Required" which is what I've always used. My owner's manual says 5W30 or 10W30 is ok depending on your temperature range.

The W30 part is the main factor here. Keep in mind, I'm not trying to compare 1 exact oil to another here. My goal is not to run every single oil possible and give comparative results. I'm simply detailing my progression as the car steps up in speed, power, stress, etc and what changes I have made to the internal lubrication to combat any issues and keep in running strong. Thx.

When W30 part is the main factor here. Thx.

Very true boomn29, 0W30, 5W30 and 10W30 are all the same, the only detail that makes the difference here is the 0, 5 and 10, they have different flow rates, the lower the first number the better it will flow under cold temps, however they all lubricate as a 30.

with that being said S2kraka it doesnt matter what oil you put in your car whether is 0W30 5W30 or 10W30 they all lubricate as a 30 {thumbup} and FYI oil cap on my EVO does not say nothing about 10W30 all it says Fully Synthetic

I am a AMSOIL Dealer and i run Dominator 10w-30 in my car and yes it is a DD. I change the oil every 2000 miles or less.....its just doesn't get better than AMSOIL.....period. Btw, i run the Signatures Series 0-30 in the winter.

Do you need to let is warm up a little more or anything like that? I'm just curious, because at some point I'm going to put some street miles on with the Dominator 10w-30 in it. They'll be cautious street miles - I've got a lotta stickers that draw attention!

Running RD20 (Dominator 5W20) in a DD Evo with built head and E85. (Use SSO in the winter.) Change at 5k intervals unless doing Autox or Drag.

Curious why the ATM is recommended over the SSO for the DD Evos?

We're currently running the 15w dominator in the 600whp stock block Evo.

I assume the op has a built motor? Just one factor I did not read about here.

I got a few questions. How many track days can you run on the same AMSOIL 10W40 before changing them? Same question for 10W30 (RD30). Do you go by mileage, months, or # of track days (every other, every 3)?

Im running AMSOIL 10W40 on my 3rd event now. Im thinking of changing it ASAP. First 2 events was a weekend Sat/Sun. 1.5 months later I ran a third at a different track. I should be good right? Btw, hitting 280F oil temps after 5laps or so, then again this was in 105F weather.

Nope. Just a regular guy with a regular motor. Stock block, trans, clutch, cams, diff, etc. AMSOIL in the engine... 21k miles; 35+ track days.

I was told I could run the Dominator to 3k miles; even if they were track miles. Do I plan to do that...no. I'm a guy that'll change oil mostly after every weekend event; maybe 2 if they're close. I change the trans/diff/t-case twice a year now at least. I know the SCCA T2 guys that run 40min races do it constantly! It's just cheap insurance imo.

And 280; nice! I read of a couple people seeing those temps. That'd for sure bother me. I have no idea what I was running last year as I just got the oil temp gauge put in this winter. It's got a warning light that I set on 250 and it's blinking red pretty quick. Didn't seem to matter if I was running my 100oct 26psi 360whp tune or my 93oct 23psi 310whp tune.

for your 600WHP evo keep on running Dominator 15W50

now for your EvoX customers that are still on stock internals with bolt ons between 300-420WHP Signature Series 0W30 is the best choice fo all year around, 0W30, 5W30 and 10W30 are all the same. in previouse post this was explainned, therfore 0W30 is perfect for all year around.

Evo 1-9 with under 450 WHP on stock and built engine can use SSO,0W30 or ATM10W30, anything making over 450 i would do 20W50 or RD 15W50

in other words you have several options.

ATM and SSO are very good oils, SSO is geared more towards the guy who wants long miles out of their oil, and but not has on the car over 400WHP, iam not saying SSO cant handle high power levels.

Nope, i just start it up in the driveway and drive to work. I did a compression check the other day while changing spark plugs and all 4 cylinders were perfect. Its good oil. Real good.

The newer EVO's do spec a 5W-30..

Not only that, there is NO Difference between 10W-30 and 5W-30 at operating temperature.

The difference is at Startup where the 5W-30 will tend to give a little better lubrication.. Necessary if running a petroleum oil, not so much running a True Synthetic.
