Face's Top Level Performance Evo IX build

I've had plans for a Full Bolt setup since before I even bought the car, but only did some minimal mods about a year after I got it, alll work was done by Top Level Performance who have done nothing but right by me, modding my car, doing service, and becoming friends with the whole crew, and my good friend Erkel AKA E-Spec tuned the car for me, I met him back when I was bone stock and he was just messing around tuning on his own blue VIII that went deep 11's, but I didn't know that when I met him lol, but I liked how he knew his ****, and how the car ran... not too far down the line he starts tuning a bunch of local guys, they all loved their tunes so it was no contest who my tuner would be... Erkel in the 2 years I've known him has helped me make the biggest strides in performance and racing than in the 5 years I've been messing with turbo cars, so he's helped me develop a plan of attack on building my car. In november of 09 I blew my 6 speed tranny after 80+ launches and 700+ no-lift-shifts since I beta tested the WOT box (big in SRT world) all that abuse caught up to me LOL...

So I took the opportunity to drive my daily, park the Evo for the winter, and save some money to go all out rather than JUST fixing it...

my mods were as follows as of the date i blew the tranny

Buschur intake pipe
Perrin Filter
GReddy Ti-C Competition 80mm turbo back exhaust
Injen lower intercooler pipe
hallman rx-pro boost controller
ACT street disc clutch and heavy duty pressure plate
girodisc stage 2 brake kit
underhood shifter bushings
stainless clutch lines

i ran 12.1 @ 113 with that setup very first pass out in 95* weather on street tires, and I weighted 330 at the time

i saved up all winter and tightened my belt and was able to throw some loot into the evo to be ready for the season...

this is what i did

Top Level spec Fully Built 5 speed transmission
-longer 1st, 3rd, 4th, and final drive
-fresh syncro's, sliders, and shift forks
-secret sauce (Ricky's spec)
-painted high temp flat black housing (top level is very accomodating )
Exedy Twin Disc HD
Buschur racing fork lock
5 speed under hood shifter bushings
Precision 1200cc
Walbro 255
EPM 02 housing
ETS 4" FMIC for IX bumper
3" Top Level Fabricated Upper intercooler pipe
TiAl 50mm BOV
Speed Density ECU patch / MAF elimination
Eibach Pro-kit springs
Lancershop triple gauge pods
AEM Uego Wideband
Autometer ES series full sweep 52mm gauges
-30/30 boost gauge
-oil pressure gauge
HKS type 1 turbo timer
ACD service
Rear Differential re-seal and service
oil change

ive already made 3 passes this season, on 3/6/10 right after i did only the tranny, clutch, 02 housing, injectors, and fuel pump i trailered it to E-town for the season opener and made some shakedown runs after 6 months of not driving, with no practice on the street, and a 93 oct tune

i went 12.6 @ 110 first pass
(my bad, wasnt used to the notchy shifter and the knob slipped outta my hand on the 1-2 shift ) excuses excuses lol

than 2 identical 12.2 @ 114 passes with 2.0 60ft's both times slipping the clutch too much and spinning tires, but slamming every gear after...

heres teh pix for you lazy peoples

as of last week
FRESH WASH

New gauges, they all light up red, matching stock dash cluster

im at 5:20 and 7:25

both my 12.2 @ 114's... slipped the clutch tooooo much off the line, and short shifted 2nd... oops...
Heres my trip to the track, im in the left lane both runs

YouTube- Nyce1s.com - Top Level Performance/E-Spec @ Street Wars 1 2010!!!

but how about that external wastegate... love ittttt !!!!!

sooooooo after an almost 8 month wait I finally got the car back, 6 months of saving, and 2 months at top level waiting on all the rest of the parts I put on after the track outing....

My impression

I gotta thank Top Level performance, Ricky, Dread spec, Eddie bwoy, tootie for bein awesome lol, they put together a tight, clean, powerful, machine.... I love the fit and finish on every single install, the custom intercooler pipe is beautiful, and the care they take when working on the car. My transmission is flawless, the gears are sooo freakin long, i love it !!! The car pulls hard in every gear, shifts smooth, but it's very precise going into gears, no resistance, slams gears like no f-ing joke !!!!!! And the E-Spec tune lives up to it's name, so far we only did a base tune at 24 spike to 21 taper, and it pulls WAY harder than it did before on 27psi on the 6 speed gear box, I'm in awe and can't stop smiling driving this car, it scared the $hit outta my boy doing a 3rd and partial 4th pull, and he used to be fine when I launched the car with the old setup lmao

Speed density IS the greatest thing I've done on the car overall YET, it drives so smooth, starts up easily, power comes RIGHT in even with the 3" uicp and 4" FMIC, and low boost, but in traffic the car is a PLEASURE to drive !!! Never thought I would say that... If your considering doing it, just take the leap and DO IT !!! If your in the tristate area Top Level can install it and have it E-spec tuned (road tune or dyno, your choice) for a MORE that reasonable price, not to mention the pricing is more than fair !!!!! If I had gone elsewhere I would have EASILY paid significantly more, if your looking for Evo specialists in the area that take great pride in their work, I recommend them with pride, cuz your gonna smile when their done hahaha

Please take the time to read, I posted this whole thing from my iPhone hahahahaha

Nice right up Big guy! I to must give respect where respect is due. They have built my car from bone stock to what it is today. I remember the nights when Ricky stayed at the shop for 4 nights straight till 1am in the morning just trying to debug my car. Thats customer service! Top Level hands down best shop, best tuner and best set of guys to chill with. Top Level FTW!

Thank you Shinobu (SNB) for motivating us, encouraging us ! you suck and your ****'s slow lol (inside joke) she's our official track cheerleader, and the official Chinese food lady, she's so JDM it hurts !!! And for all of this, and being a friend, the one that really supports erk and stays by his side, even on the dyno till 7:45am... I thank you !!! Don't stop bein awesome, and please don't stop making spagetti with bacon or soy sauce n coke chicken... It's the bomb diggity !!!

the Tial piece that you are referring to is a blow off valve, not an external wastegate. Anywho, it does add some spice to the engine bay nonetheless! It means business

Yeah, you fail... I put an EPM 02 dump on the car, I was making referance to how much I love it, if I don't know that that is a TiAl 50mm blow off valve, than I don't even deserve my car

The wastegate comment was right below the pic of the Tial bov, so 2 and 2 were put together. There was no "fail", only a misunderstanding.
