My Experience with Spec-Ops Motorsports.!!!
O where to begin on this one...
well It all started about a month and a half ago when my clutch started to go.
I went onto my regional forums in search of someone that could help in the install for a good price of course, after getting quotes from local shops (mom and pop places) which is the only thing available her in the area I live; I was informed by Matt from Spec-Ops Mortorsports that they would have no problem taking on the job and doing it right.
I decided to go with Spec-Ops mainly because of 3 reasons.
-Military owned and operated
-Price of course
-Overwhelming positive experiences other members have had with them.
Now I am a very nervous when it comes to my car and who handles it due to the fact that it had been broken into at a previous shop in MD which will remain nameless.
When I was finally able to raise the funds to get my car fixed I contacted Matt that day, and my car was towed there.
Upon reaching Spec-Ops they went to work immeadiatly and had my car apart and ready to drop the clutch in, but due to a shipping error which was in no way in their fault (act was on backorder for my clutch) my car ended up sitting on a lift for a few days. Now we all know whether you own a shop or not that a car sitting on a lift is just taking up useful space. Matt was kind enough to understand this problem and not charge me additional.
When the clutch finally arrived there it was in the car in less then half a day! (fast work guys!) this wouldn't have been that amazing except for the fact that they have been very busy pumping other evos out!
Then comes the issue of wiring in my ECU......and tuning, apparently the previous owner of the car tapped and sodered so many wires that it looked like a racoon was living behind my glove box.
After Matt taking the time to rewire, soder, and heat shrink everything, it finally looks like its supposed to again. These guys are OCD about their work and will not leave anything half assed! In my mind that is a good thing. we as owners are OCD about our cars, why should we have people that actully care as much if not more about evos/customer service/time/and all around friendliness.
After everything was completed we took the 2 1/2 drive up to the shop and it was worth every single second of it. upon arrival Matt took the time to explain everything on the bill instead of just saying the usual give me your money heres your keys. Even offered to test drive it with me to make sure everything was up to my statisfaction. (which we couldn't due to time)
Driving back..... Let me just say this. I really Thought I was driving a Different car.
when I say this I mean I feel like i just bought a Brand new evo, the difference was night and day from when it went in and when i drove it home. He even took the time to contact me on the ride home to see how everything was running and a second time to make sure I had gotten home safe and how the car was running!
Bottom line is this. GO TO Spec-Ops! Matt,Jason know their stuff!!!
The Spec-Ops family has earned themselves another customer and friend for life
