Mishimoto FMIC

I scooped one of these guys up on eBay for $175 shipped and I can't really complain about the fitment and the quality. The IC looks pretty good (Nice and stock appearing!) and seems to not heat soak nearly as bad as the stock IC. I would think this is a great IC for a stock turbo application, but I don't know how it would be with a FP Black or something of that nature.

The reason I got this IC was because I couldn't turn down the deal and my stocker was heat soaking like crazy on hot days (I would get 1 good gear and then run horrible after). So far, I have driven the car in 20* hotter temps than when the stocker was giving me issue and the Mishimoto unit is holding its ground. I haven't had any heat soak issue thus far. I doubt they will be had for $175 shipped anymore, but for $175 you would be hard pressed to find a better IC!

How could did tell when the stocker was getting heat soaked? Was there a physical indicator, were you running logs, etc? You mentioned the car run horribly after the heat soak. What were the symptoms? Curious more than anything.

The car would stutter on acceleration because the IC wasn't cooling the air. I would get 1 clean gear and then lots of knock due to the hot air entering the engine. With the Mishimoto I haven't had this problem and I have been driving the car in near 100* temps, whereas I was having the issues with my stocker around 80-85*, if the stocker was in the car for the 100* days I doubt I would even get 1 clean gear out of it...

Yeah! It was on eBay and it was so cheap because the spray painted Mishimoto upside down on the IC, but a little bit of paint thinner solved that problem...
