They do not warranty their mounting and balancing services because it's "free", read you're out of luck. This is per customer service at TIRERACK.
I swap the snow tires/wheels combo fresh from TIRERACK the night before and the next morning headed out to work. As soon as I reach HWY speed the car started to shake really bad. Had to go back home and change back to the old setup.
Half a day wasted...
Took them to a local shop later, ALL four of them were out of balance.
A big part of saving (both in TIME and money) when buying from TIRERACK is getting a properly mounted and balanced setup. That's what everybody expect.
In reality You will only get the tires and the wheels for sure.
You may or may not get the mounting and balancing (read properly done) as promised.
IMHO, I say If you are going to provide a service, you should stand behind it.

it would certainly suck to think you're all set only to find out you're not. but rather than drive home why didn't you just go straight to NTB (or whereever) and get them balanced?
btw, I really appreciate the heads-up since I was planning on ordering a new set of wheels/tires from tirerack in the spring

Wow that's bad. I always deal with discount tire because they're always cheaper AND they're not far from here so I receive everything next day, though I do not trust neither tire sack or disc. tire to mount and balance anything for me if they were shipping, especially if they have the stick on weights.

TireRack uses good equipment, but they do go out of calibration from time to time. I'm surprised their customer service did not do a better job of handling the situation though. You should have called the EvoM rep directly though and given him the chance to take care of the members. I've personally had nothing but good luck with TireRack's mounting/balancing services.
