Boostin Performance built/tuned 2.3
Last month I spun a rod bearing. Not a fun situation. Since the Evo is my only car, I needed a shop that could rebuild the motor as quickly as possible and do it right. Within an hour of the motor grinding to a halt, the car was on a flatbed to Boostin Performance in Hoffman Estates, IL.
I chose Boostin because I figure anyone who has personally built/tuned/driven a car as fast as the Red Demon has to know a thing or two about this platform. I am very satisfied with my choice. Paying for a new motor is always going to suck, but otherwise they made the process as easy as could be. After discussing which way I wanted to go (9.5:1 2.3 stroker with OEM 4G64 crank), the wait began for parts. Boostin took care of getting everything I wanted for the build at fair prices. I was always updated via phone/email of where they were in the process and before long the motor was back in the car and ready to be broken in.
The car has been my daily for going on 7 years now. Rain, snow or shine. Unfortunately the engine bay showed this. Before putting the new motor in, the guys at Boostin powerwashed and degreased the engine bay at no charge to me. I definitely wasn't expecting that. Here's what it looks like now. That's what you call service.
My goal for the car has never been to set power or 1/4 mile records. Just a fun all around car that pulls hard throughout the entire rev range. With that in mind I went with a CBRD BBK Full 3 years ago. While it spooled very close to stock, I could tell a difference when driving my buddy's stock IX. I decided to stick with the BBK Full on 93 for now.
How fast does a 9.5:1 2.3 spool a BBK Full? This fast.
Full boost and peak torque by 4000. Flat 400 whp (Mustang Dyno) from 6000 to 8000. Does not fall off at all. Is it a ton of power for built motor? Of course not. But there is no lag. None. I think this combo might spool faster than stock. It's cold out today and on winter tires, WOT in 3rd gear spins all 4 tires to redline. Scared the **** out of me the first time it happened since I wasn't ready. For now I'm not thinking about needing more power but if I do, it's just an E85 tune and/or slightly bigger turbo away. I would hate to lose any of this spool though.
The best thing I can say about Boostin Performance and this entire process is that I never felt like I was getting screwed over or suckered into paying for something I didn't need. The whole process was honest and fast. I have my car back and it's more fun than ever. Boostin and Devin-Tuned FTW.

I have a similar built on my evo. I did a 2.4L with 9:0 manley piston and manley tt rod. But my tuner told me that is wasnt safe to redline the 4g64 block to 8k rpm.
Did your tuner say anything about that?
Im redline at 7800 now. I do miss redline it at 8500 with my fully built block and head.
I just finish my built couple weeks ago and did 564hp/466tq on @27psi on Mustang dyno on pumpgas with a 6266jb turbo

Personally I have it set to 7600 because I intend to bounce off the rev limiter a few times in the snow this winter. Still gives me plenty of powerband. Devin said 8000 all day every day is perfectly fine though.

Devin said 8500 rpm is no problem but pointless with my turbo. I wouldn't be comfortable running that every day but at the strip, doesn't seem like a big deal. Buschur also says it's fine.
