black smoke, should i be worried?

Shiv and co.

My car puts out a ton of black smoke at the track. Should i be worried? Everything seems to be running just fine mechanically, but i can't tell you how many times i've gotten the meatball flag b/c someone thinks something is wrong with my car.

Im running catless, btw.

Do you have a tune? It could be running super rich, but that's just one guess

Cat-less will make you puff black smoke. especially at shifts. Also, if there is any oil seapage at the turbo seals, you will spit out loads of smoke. Even a teeny tiny loss. Nothing to really worry about but certainly worth keeping an eye on. Do you lose any oil between oil changes?

I could get my completely stock EVO to puff black smoke under some hard driving. I would assume it would be more prevalent with a "tuned" EVO running catless. So I would say it's normal.

Now, the trick is to get flames coming out of your exhaust.

that would be blue smoke, not black.
