I love my Signuature Series Exhaust, but, Silencer available?

I installed my signature series exhaust myself. I am very impressed with the fitment, the finish, the quality, everything!

I have installed two other dump back exhausts in the past that left me expecting the need to hammer this, and bend that, and then go back and move one thing or another to get it right. But, not so with this exhaust. I can't imagine any exhaust system being made better.

It is pipe art.

At cruising rpms it is not too loud. At full throttle with the windows down the car is loud and mean, but not painfully so. I am happy with the sound overall. Frankly, I love making a full throttle pass just to hear the car. Its part of the attraction.

But, is there a silencer of any kind available that I could use on a temporary basis?

My wife would be happier on those occasions when her nerves are strained. Also, long roads trips at 80 or 90 mph might see the use of a silencer.

Might I suggest the following, and it's only a marginal fix.........

1. Weld a 3" pipe into the 4" section at the end of the tail pipe. It will require some inginuity to seal the space between the 2 pipes, but a good muffler shop/fabricator can help. Heat wrap the 3" section before you weld it in place.

2. Heat wrap your down pipe making sure no part touches the frame.

3. Heat wrap the rest of the exhaust. However, because the dp back section is exposed to the elements, you may run into corrosion issues.

4. add resonators in the exhaust line.... YOYO on this one because you'll be experimenting and fabricating.

WOW ^^^^^

I just bought an aftermarket slip in siliencer that I use for long trip or daily driving if I want to be in stealth mode. It slows the turbo down where it takes to 4500 to spool and spools 3 psi lower. It was like $20 off of Ebay fits awesome It uses the existing hole in the tip to mount with one torx screw. It is 100% stainless. It makes the 4" tip a 1.5" outlet. Sound like a shop vac at WOT.

Magna flow wont sell you the insert. You have to buy the whole muffler with the silencer if you want it. BLAH BLAH BLAH. They just don't want you to have one. I asked Vishnu to include them with the kits for people like us... no response. Oh, well.

Side note- when It came is it had some kewl chineese stamps and warnings on the box.

Thanks for the suggestions Guys.

Cajun, can you tell me the name of the company that makes the one you got, or some tip on how I can find it? I'm assuming you have a signature series system as well. That sounds like a great temporary solution.. which is all I'm looking for. Most of time I won't be using the silencer.

Okay, found a couple that might work. What do you think of them?

For you haters.. this is just a temporary thing. I love the sound of the unrestricted exhaust most of the time.

Looks like you found it. The second one is the one I use. I pull it at least 2 days before a track day to let my ecu and xede get used to being open again. I do notice that if I run the plug for a week or two, when I pull it out my car runs like it is still in for a day or two. I have absolutly no complaints about this el'cheapo mod. It cut about 1/2 the extra sound off the exhaust. Say stock your car is 70 DB and with sig exhaust it is 90 DB it would be about 80 DB with the plug in. Plus you can adjust it. I keep it closed to the min output. I don't see putting it in then opening it with 2 screwes when I can take it out with one.

When you install it you have to clean out the tip. The carbon will make it hard to slide in. AND YOU WILL GET DIRTY!!! Carbon is messy if you scrape it out dry.

That first one might be what I've seen others using. If it's 3", it shouldn't affect your power, just reduces the megaphone effect. You'd need 2 of the 4" pieces to keep it aligned.
