Creader

I turn the car on then plug the unit. I tried over 6 times already and it is always the same. I have not disconnected the battery. The question is why would my car have an issue with the port. As I stated before, Jorge had no problems plugging his reader in and connecting to my car.
Anyone else have this problem?
What do I do (this is a question for Vishnu to answer)?

I would ask Vishnu to replace the CReader. Call them on the phone ASAP.

I would trust the Evo's ECU to be consistent from car to car, rather than a $5 (+ markup) reader made in China.

All I suggested was you try disconnecting the battery... If you are stumped, what do you have to lose... nothing.

I too tried the Launch code reader in my 2003 Evo and was unsuccessful. In fact I tried two different units both did not work.

code reader

Okay, so now that makes 3 people who have the same problem. Thanks Zeus for the suggestion, I'll try to disconnect the battery and drain the juice tonight. I will also have to call Vishnu when I get home as they seldom answer any of my posts. Go figure. I will also call Launch to see what is going on.

Sig,
I left you a vm this morning at work but I know I had crap cell reception so you might not have understood it. I have two of these C Readers, one that I got a couple years ago that worked on my corvettes but hasn't worked on my Evo nor my WRX. The new one I got from Vishnu works on the Evo, I tried it this morning. The only physical difference between the two readers is that the new one has a serial number on the back on a white sticker, the old one has no serial or rev numbers. What does the one you got from Vishnu have?

Mine has nothing on it. Thanks Sam for checking. I'll call Launch today and ask what's up.

Sigfrid,
If you would like to send the Creader back to us, we can test it in a car here. If the reader is in fact faulty, we can send you a new unit. If it is not faulty, then we can begain trouble shooting on your end.

Creader

Thanks all for the feedback. My car is running fine and the code I got when I started it a few days ago is gone. The Creader does not work and I will call Launch shortly. If they are unable to help, I will ship it back to you Calvin. Thanks all for the help.

Sig, forget Launch and go the Vishnu return route as they are the original purchasers. It would seem to me that older versions of the reader won't work on our cars.

Creader

I spoke to Zack at Launch and he is sending an e-mail to the manufacturer in chian to see the difference between the units with serial numbers and the ones like I got. He will ask why there are some readers that work and others that dont and said I will have an answer tomorrow. He says I can send the unit directly to them for replacement. Thanks all, will update tomorrow.

the code was a C(rank)AS or C(am)AS error. Happens when you stall the car, then goes away after its been on for a bit.

Have you tried plugging it up, THEN turning the key on?

Actually, I don't think I've tried plugging it and turning the car on. Will try that. Thanks.
