Does any body run with exhaust insulating wrap on the after market stainless down pipes?

exhaust wrap isnt for noise, its to keep the heat engulfed INSIDE the downpipe instead of it being given off and heating surrounding counterparts. Its a good preventative measure to take when replacing exhaust parts. You can find exhaust wrap at any automotive store (napa, autozone, pepboys, murrays, etc.)

I use it, still smell it burning after 2K miles. Some guy came up to me a thought I was leaking anti-freeze due to the smell!!!! But seems to work great for temperature isolation.

I wrapped my Buschur DP until it cleared the oil pan. Not sure if it does a whole lot, but some people said it might help with the exhaust temp and it keeps the oil a little cooler. Plus, it was a fun project and looks nice under the car.

Wouldn't exhaust tape on a turbo car hinder performance?

WTF? How by keeping the heat from the exhaust in the exhaust? Maybe you have never read a magazine or watched a rally. Everything is heat wrapped.

I'm using Thermotec copper wrap on my RNR manifold and DP. It really helps keep the temps down. It does smoke like hell the first time it heats up. It looked like my engine was on fire.

i have my dp wrapped in fiberglass wrap, considering its so close to all the oils and it gets so hot its better than boiling the oils

Deffinitly keeps aftermarket downpipe temps away from oil pan (That alone is worth it), might help in that it keeps temps higher making the air actually move faster BUT also raises temps entering the Cat, which has been debated as a possible downside (however no cat = no issue)

I like the sound, mine has a dry growl to it. I can usually tell a wrapped DP from a distance, at least for the Evo.

AND it does smell like pie for quite a while and after it gets a little wet.

................. ummmmmmmmmmmmmm PIE! (:-(l)

For example..when ppl wrap their headers its to keep the heat inside. Theory of anti-lag where an explosion (HEAT) suddenly passes through the turbine wheel thereby deleting lag (keeps turbo spooled). Wrapping exhaust parts keeps the air velocity up which thereby reduces backpressure in a way. Wrapping a header keeps the heat inside to bypass the turbine quicker, wrapping a o2/dp/catback to further exit the heat quicker. It also has the benefit of keeping engine temps and underbody cooler. HTH.
