Need Answer Fast
OK my alcohol injection pump has died for the 2nd time. (no I will not name brand b/c they are taking care of me) I am heading to the track tomorrow and I was wondering if it would be safe to run my meth map with 100 octane at say 26 psi. The alcohol kit is not in the car, so this will be on straght 100 octane. There is no time for me to create a new map so I was thinking about trying to run my meth map on 100 octane. Anyone try this before or know how 100 octane compares to meth in terms of knock resistance.?Thanks in advance.

well for one, you're gonna run really rich till you get to the part of the fuel map where it was leaned out for the meth. what octane was the meth map made for? 93 octane? 91? also what percentage of alcohol was your mixture? if you were running 93 octance with 100% methanol, that is about 100 octane. it all depends on what setup the meth map was made for. its possible. can't say that is perfectly safe though. like i said before, it depends.

Thanks for the reply. My map was 100 meth with 93 octane. When you say 93 + meth is about 100 octane, how do you arrive at that. Just curious?

Thats a good question... cant you call a local tuner and find out?
I'm sure Sean Ivey, AMS, Buschur, TT, Pruven would know....

I am my local tuner, I just don't have time to tune a new map. I can always just run my pump map, but more boost would be nice at the drag strip tomorrow.

Data log, if it's tuned on 93 and meth, you run 100 and meth at 26lbs, should run fat. See how close a/f are. Turn up the boost to 27-28 if data logging goes well, no knock.

EvoTech- Just out of curiosity, were you running 100% methyl?
I'm starting to worry now that the tip of my idle motor is melted off (nobody take this info as if the two are related - yet).
