That piston damage is nothing short of detonation damage. You need to change your tuner. Its got NOTHING to do with alky mixing with oil.

And I wouldn't trust anyone who says they lost a cylinder from dropping a valve guide and having oil mix with methanol. Once a valve guide drops you are going to loose that cylinder no matter what.

Ok, so we know it can and does violently pre-ignite on hot spots.

So how does the oil come into play. Well oil has a problem of leaving ash deposits when burnt. These ash deposits can form hot spots in the combustion chamber.

You can say I took items out of context, but how many people put detergent free oil in their engine. Last time I used deterget free oil was in an air compressor, I had to go and find it.

So we have hot spots generated from excess oil in the combustion chamber being burnt with the fuel. Thus providing methanol the opportunity to pre-ignite and distroy the piston.

Ivan ANY fuel can pre-ignite on hot spots. Again none of what you're saying is methanol specific. With gas and the same things would happen, and if you want to be particular about it, the methanol is actually less likely to pre-ignite on hot spots than gas because it has a higher temperature of autoignition than gasoline.
