leak fixed

Just wanted to post about my experiences with the HFS-5 over approximatly the past two years of daily use. I have been using 100% methanol daily throughout this time period. I have only had minor problems with the kit, both have been easily fixed with service provided by Richard.

The first issue, tubing would crack and split at the joints of the HSV. This failure was due to heat build up from both the HSV and the ambient temperature in the engine bay. The solution, move the HSV from inside the engine bay (originally located behind the intake manifold) to the space under the windshield trim. Never had a problem post relocation of the HSV.

The second issue, leaks at the HFS-5 pump. The first leak was between the silver and black sections of the pump. This leak was due to the loosening of the screws caused by vibration. Tightened the screws holding these two sections together and the leak was fixed. The second leak was at the silver plate at the bottom of the pump. This leak was easily fixed with a brass plug Richard provided and a 5/8"x13/16"x3/32" oring I sourced locally.

Thanks again Richard for the great service and quality products.

Anybody know where I can buy a 1/8" NPT x 1/4" Barb T fitting to match the MAC valve install diagram that richard posted?

I can't find a T-Barb Fitting with two inputs into an NPT.

Which diagram are you talking about? I have sourced some small hardware pieces for different projects and stuff from several places but I'm unsure of what you are exactly looking for.

On this diagram, where the MBC vacuum line meets the #3 position on the Mac Valve and the Turbo vacuum line.

P.S. Would I need a restrictor pill somewhere in this setup? I am running a Greddy EBC with the MAC valve and Jamie's harness, but I want to make sure when I have it on high boost with the EBC the MAC valve will cut it to wastegate if there's an issue.

Look closer at the image. there's just three straight barbed fittings out of the MAC valve. The tee is afterwards and that can be plastic or brass. Holley/NOS has a nice 3 -way barbed brass tee fitting if you do not want to go with plastic tee.

I just started my install on my new DDS3v10 yesterday. My question is why does the kit come with the FIA2 if it is not needed with this new kit? It does not show how to integrate it into the install in anyway. Thanks for the help

The DDS3v10 should not have come with a FIA2. Who did you buy the kit from?

Very interesting. The v10 has the FIA2 inbuilt.

Well it is good to know that it is not needed. The owners manual shows a picture of the fia2 and the dds3v8 on the cover with all the other included parts but it says the manual is for the v10. I bought the kit from vivid racing which by the way was very helpfull. Thanks for the quick response....

What version is listed on the Junction Box? Does the Junction Box have a "ethernet" style connector in the top left corner?

Does the Gauge have a matching "ethernet" style connector

I just want to make sure that you do in fact have a version 10.

It is for sure the v10. It just happened to have the fia2 as well. Could somebody use this piece to help them upgrade in some way?

Thanks,

Chris

Lots of options but with the AEM I'm not sure....I'd say your best bet is to tune with the solenoid and then wire it into the junction box so it will cut out. Diagram for this on page 1 I think.

Ok. my problem is than I broth my evo 8 from USA to Peru, so I had some setup than was working good running at 21psi of boost, so when I install the Aem ems I broke my engine with only 49k. so know I have a big confuse because I going to have a complete different setup and I don’t know up to how much boost psi I would be able to run w/out the HFS-5 and how much more I will run with the HFS-5, this is my new setup: If someone can help me to calculate (approximate.) how much hp, how much boost psi I would able to run and what injector size I will need to use, I will appreciate any help, you guys probably are asking why don’t ask my tuner, well the problem is than in this freaking country no buddy knows too much about this type of setups.
What is in red is what I’m upgrading.
Thanks.
