by-pass mode shurflos maintain injection pressure by a set of internal valves

on-demand mode shurflos maintain do it by a pressure switch on the pump head, 3 concern with this mode of operation

-leaky pressure switch

-the constant cyclic on/off for pump to maintain pressure - the stop/start action draws a lot of current and doing it many times puts wear on the brushes - stress on the heart of a alky system is not good

-due to the dead band, flactuations in line pressure

Shuflo makes lots of models of pump make sure the pump you get has EPDM seals. This solves the most common problem of failure i have witnessed. I have sold several thousand pumps and biggest problem warrenty wise was viton seals. So we switched, them to epdm over a year ago. We hardly have pump have pressure switch or even brush problems. Maybe 1 or 2 a month. Shurflo really makes a good product.

yes i do. i have it wired into the AEM to drop boost when/if the pressure drops.

BUT......ask me if i trust it..............??

I am with DevilOwn injection

10 amps max is not really much.

My elec water pump on my car pulls 20amps.

So ... has anyone ... er... done a "competative analysis" of the SMC controller ??
Will it work with the higher demand Shurflo pump ???

So Rocket - are you recommending the DevilsOwn as suitable ???

BTW - all the verbage for these pumps talks about water and water/meth .... how do they stand up to alky ??

Check with steve@smc if the controller is robust enough to handle the higher current drawn by a shurflo

i will stay away from denatured alcohol...denaturing/fouling compounds to make ethanol undrinkable like...acetone, methyl ethyl ketone aka pvc pipe cement, dichloromethane aka paint remover...although they are ~several %, these solvents are not good for the santoprene/epdm pump internals

have you considered running a simple on/off injection system, parts consist:
-pump
-hobbs switch
-relay
-solenoid valve?

What is the advantage of such a setup ??
I understand how the progressive system works, injecting volume increases based on boost.
How would the on/off system be used ?? Just pick a psi and start spraying?
