Replacing my SMC pump with another brand

Replacing my SMC pump with another brand
I've had teh SMC kit for a few years now. It works for my needs, but I have grown tired of having
to send the kit back every year to get the POS Flojet pump replaced.
Here's my question - can I buy a Shurflo pump, like the one Coolingmist sells, and swap it for the Flojet ???
I assume:
1. the Shurflo 8009 series will work fine on any PWM system, and
2. the SMC controller won't care what pump brand is on the other end...
How close am I to being right ???
Has anyone else done this ???
What is another alternative fix, short of buying another complete kit ??? Replacing the pump is a $100 fix...

I'm just curious but what exactly is happening with the pump? Are you sending it back due to the pump completely failing(stops working) or to have the seals replaced? Do you run 100% meth all the time?
As for swapping in another pump such as the 8009, I think you'll run into trouble with the SMC controller not being able to support the larger amp draw. The flojet pump is pretty small in comparison to the shurflo's and I would assume draws much less current. Having trouble at the moment finding the spec sheets for either but I'm sure someone else that knows will chime in.

Yes, I send it back because the seals start leaking. It's become a yearly ritual.
I run DA, not meth, but I am considering switching to meth, or 50/50 meth/water.
What is happening now is that, when pushing the test button , the max pressure the guage shows is 60psi.
It is normally at like 120-130psi.
If it's a amp draw problem, I wonder if I can toss in a power transistor, or a SCR, and have the SMC controller switch the SCR.
Something to think about.

Thanks for the info so far.
Slowcar - I have never had the pump motor itself crap out, just the seals, so I'm not sure how a bigger,
more powerful motor buys me anything. Then again, I'm not sure what the bypass mode does...
Looks like the possible winner is this pump from Devilsown -

Seems like for $90 it's a deal ...
