Who was that quote from (I can't find it) about PMing him for parking in the park? Kara (suyfergirl) and I will be parking our 2 lancers in the park for sure. We're both working the event... I hope Natalie can drive us from the park to our work site. Anyway, add us to the list, please.

Also, a little heads up for those coming, the motels are starting to fill up. Motel 6, Holiday Inn, and John Jay Inn are already booked. As of today, EZ-8 motel (661)273-6400 is still available at decent rates (just made my reservations). Maybe the Super 8 (661)273-8000 too.

Hmmm, I reserved at the EZ-8 in Palmdale, on West Palmdale Blvd. (661)273-6400. I chose it because it's only a mile from the race start. If you want to use the same place as my crew, you can try to switch. Otherwise, your motel should still work, it's only about 5 or 6 miles away.

You will be parking on the soccer field before 10:00 AM on Saturday morning, right?

I'll most likely drive down early Saturday morning to defer the hotel room expense. It's not as if I haven't down this kind of thing before...

I will contact Natalie to arrange for CAL SLAM VIP volunteer shuttle service. An official request will at least give us the opportunity to confirm her kind offer.

Feel free to pimp CAL SLAM Stage II to your Lancer driving friends and family.

I received this message:

Stewart, I understand you wanted to set up a booth of some type on the field for your club. What did you have in mind? Will there be an EZ up, tables, display, info on the club? Will you have banners? We need this information which is the same we are getting from all the other 20x20 vendors for planning the field.

I will be preparing a map for our volunteers with job duties and a timeline of activities. When it is done I will email it out to our crew. If there is any specific information your people need please let me know so I can include it.

I don't remember asking to set up a table or booth, but it wouldn't be a bad idea. Did anyone request this of Steve? Please add your comments below and keep us in the loop.

This also arrived, yesterday:
Subject: Welcome

I want to thank all of you for volunteering your time for this year's running of the Rim of the World Rally. I look forward to working with each of you.

I want to double check your availability for working at Pelona Vista. Could each of you let me know what days you will be available. Friday and Saturday will be the busiest. I will put a schedule together with duties once I have this information. Please bear in mind vendors will be arriving on Thursday and we will need traffic control so if you can come out that day it would be great. Friday morning more vendors will be arriving. Parking and traffic control will be a major job. Friday afternoon and evening when the rally starts will need control in directing the rally cars off the field and into the start area. We need to be over staffed on Friday and for the entire day Saturday. It looks like we will have around 100 to 120 Subaru's on the field, 80 rally cars and of course Team Blew. That is a lot of cars to arrange properly.

I will be preparing maps for each of you. If you have Power Point on your computers then I can send it that way. If not I can fax it to you or you can share.

So please let me know what days are times you will be arriving. Thank you.
I am going to set up our CAL SLAM Stage II site this month.
I'll need Kareem's updates Flash and Shaun's updataed logo.
IF we want T-shirst, I'll have to submit the new logo.
Please reply to this post on the thread so we can brainstorm.

Thanks

SMH

Dunno. Looks like most people are doing the hotel thing. I am not planning on staying over, but there's a possibility of camping on Saturday night. I will probably bring my girls with me. It sounds like fun and might be a better alternative to heading back up north right after the event. What do you think?

Well, it looks like I am going to have to back out of the camping. I am thinking that I am going to be busy with my job at Rim and am going to have to be taking care of the parties each night. I will come prepared to camp, but I will have to play be ear. Not sure how busy I am going to be or not until I get there.
