Modded NorCal Evo IX owners-Test Drive wanted!
I posted this on NorcalEvo, but so far no takers
Yeah I'm a n00b to this board and evos, but not to the awd/turbo crowd. I have an 05 Sti, TBE, filter, and the cobb AP. I put down 266/275 on the Gruppe-S dyno.
When I bought my car I didnt really like the evo VIII because the lack of low end torque/power, it seems as if the IX has changed this abit with the revised turbo and MIVEC. I also like the revised recaros, front end, and head/tail lights.
Well I test drove a stock one today, and unfortunately it felt much like civic compared to my STi. With the STi, the low end torque is there right away and all the time. The IX in stock form still didn't quite do it for me, so I'd like to test drive/ride in a IX that has similar mods (TBE, intake, flash/tune). From my research on here and evoM, the IXs with these mods should put down similar power, but most importantly many tuners are able to shift the torque to the left so max torque comes quick (before 3500rpm) and flattens out, much like the STi.
And Capitol Mitsubishi is full of ****, the guy told me right away that the MR was way faster, had a bigger turbo, ran 21psi instead of 19, and all evos have 4 intercoolers, with the engine intercooler being on the bottom of the car, LOL!. Not to mention the MR had an 18k mark up! Some sucker had just bought an MR and saw me roll up in my STi and came to talk to me. He too told me to get the MR since it had 80 more HP, lol
So yeah, if you have a lightly modded evo(perhaps minor suspension mods as well), please let me know! I live in San Jose, in exchange for a test drive I can buy a you beer or you can test drive my STi

STIs are the fastest and win all the street races and rule at the strip.LOL!
My 8 with bolt-ons owned every STI I ever came across at the strip and on the street. Even an EZ Street turbo upgraded STi fell at the hands of my stock turboed 8 with bolt-ons. Dude there is no comparison when it comes to modding. Believe the hype and move on to the faster car if that is what u are after. Call and talk to all the local tuners and ask them which car puts down the smack. The Sti is a missle on the launch. I have never ever out launched one.

Well I'm not a street racer or a dragger, so that wouldnt be my reason for getting the IX. If I were to do that, I would have got something RWD with a blown V8. I know a IX with equal mods will beat a STi any day from a roll or on the strip, I'm not as interested in this as I am in the "fun factor". I have a spirited 4 mile commute but want it more for track duty, where the EVO handling shines. However, for those 4 miles a day, the low end punch of the STi makes it an exciting one. In stock form, the IX just didnt have it, which is why I want to see how a lightly modded IX feels. From my research, a tbe/flashed IXs torque curve isnt too much different than a stage II Sti (what I have). But I want to compare on the butt dyno

I have nothing against any STi owner, save for the fact that every single subaru owner in the reno area is a complete dick.
I would let you drive my car, but sadly its not a IX and its not modded really at all, save the TBE.

You could prob find one for sale on autotrader or in the classifieds with a little work done.. You could just test drive it..
Also I ave driven and STI I'm a former WRX owner and the STi felt like it had more toque at first but after driving and evo for a while now I am very happy with my choice.
Also I think part of it was that the STi was a little louder inside so it gave a more of a "feeling" of acceleration
