For those of you insured in CALIFORNIA

I'm going to change auto insurance companies pretty soon, and under most circumstances I'd be a pain in the *** to insure. I'm
-20 years old
-active duty military
-licensed since 17
-1 traffic violation in 3 years
-1 minor accident at fault in 3 years
-driving an 06 IX MR with no lojack/etched windows

and here are my complete quotes from everyone so far, for the California minimum required insurance and a $500 or $1000 deductible:

Esurance: 228/mo (that's around what I was expecting )
USAA: 356/mo ()
Allstate: 750/mo ()
Progressive: 440/mo (thanks but no thanks)
Mercury: 313/mo (still too high, good try though)

Nationwide
: 100/mo (wait, what? )

My roommate was insured with them for about 3 years. I was about to buy the esurance policy (having given up on all the other companies out there) and he convinced me to call up Nationwide.. Thank god I did, $100 a month is a steal! I'm not sure what's wrong with Nationwide, they must be a little crazy in the head, but I'm not saying anything.. I'll take it!

Wow, that's a great deal. I used to pay more that that to insure a 96 Explorer through USAA a couple of years ago when I lived in San Diego.

What gets me is why insurance companies are using your credit score to determine your quotes.
