Want definitive OTD price for Evo
#16
I spoke with a dealer in the L.A. area today. He said he's been getting calls from dealers in the midwest who want to sell their evo stock to him.
He said he didn't do it because the margin has dropped so much and he can make more on other cars on his lot. He said they hype has worn off and most of those who want the car have them; There isn't a big audience for this car and he can't push the average Joe buyer into this car.
With nothing to gain or loose, he said some dealers may choose to take a loss on this car and his best guess for the next month or two would be high $26K if you can find a dealer willing to dump the car. The car in question includes CF spoiler and destination charger. That could be out the door for around $29K. Of course it's just conjecture at this point until someone actually gets this deal.
Also spoke with another dealer, a guy who I've known for a number of years in California. He says the company sales average is about 2 evos per month per dealer excluding those who choose not to carry the car. In other words, the dealers carrying the car sell about 2 a month so if you find a dealership with a lot of stock, they're moving about 2 a month.
Finally, check out the LA times today. Mitsubishi is laying off about a quarter of the MMC staff on Katella in Cypress and the VP of sales and marketing is gone as of the end of the month.
The company was also in the Times for the loss of a big wistle blower case today too.
Not a good day for Mitsubishi.
