Mellon Tuning trip to Honolulu
Per request to keep clutter / random conversation out of the Hawaii thread here is the NEW tuning thread:
Mellon Tuning trip to Honolulu
TIME FRAME SET! October 12, 2011 - October 19, 2011!. I have been working extensively with Mellon to get him out here FINALLY. If you are still INTERESTED please post up here. I will update the list as we go. The price (subject to change) right now is $450 per tune, $600 for 2 maps. There will be a $100 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. This deposit will go to your tune costs but ensures we are filling slots with serious people. I will be your contact for the deposit collection. IF dyno tuning, you will need to pay for your own dyno time. I can work out a group rate at RADS, but we will work on that after the list is made.
Cars currently able to be tuned: EVO VIII, EVO IX, and EVO X. Stock ECU and Acess Port for now. If you have a different platform please don't hesitate to ask. Please PM Mellon Racing with ANY of your questions. He is the expert!
There will be a 3-5 car per day maximum to ensure everyone's custom tune is complete with no defects. Please note:
THIS IS CRITICAL: Before you load the new ROM file: Make sure you do a thorough boost leak test with an air compressor. Visually inspecting hoses and clamps will not be sufficient. You should be able to put 15-20psi of pressure into the system with an air compressor at the turbo intake pipe. You may need to block off the hose going from the intake pipe to the valve cover and the hose going from a pressure source to your MBC or EBC temporarily. Make sure you install a fresh set of spark plugs and gap them to .022 to make sure we don't encounter spark blowout with raised boost. Zip tie ALL vacuum hoses, they will blow off with raised boost. Make sure your WB02 is logging properly before we begin. Failure to follow any part of these instructions will result is dismal performance from your EVO or an inability to tune it. This can cause additional charges during a road tune.
Please note that we do not use the stock ecu for boost control because it's far too tedious and time consuming to adjust remotely. If there are major temperature changes the average customer will not be able to compensate due to the complexity of the stock ecu boost control settings. A good MBC like the Forge UNOS or EBC like the Greddy Profec B Spec II is recommended.
All sales are final and non refundable once the starting ROM is emailed.
To be put on the list, there is no deposit required:
1. the7thsin
2. Anonomous Evo (Deposit paid)
3. KingofGlory777 (Deposit paid)
4. scrivs (Deposit paid)
5. Bobby (Deposit paid)
6. flo2877 (Deposit paid)

looking forward to the Trip everyone. The date will most likely be on a holiday weekend so I have an extra day for the return trip home without impacting other business.
The reason we only do 3-4 cars a day is because we spend a lot of time on each car to get the tune absolutely perfect.

Going to do AP tunes too?? If tuning is done on the dyno could stock ecu be used for boost control? I really want to stick with ecu boost control due to my TC-SST.

we can do AP tunes if you can download the software (it's specific to each AP device), we don't use the ecu to control boost and have had no problems with a good mbc like the hallman on the SST cars.

Still on the fence.... I want to stick with ecu boost control on the other hand it is very nerve racking changing things in the ecu! I have a manual and a 3-port so if I can't grow a sack by February you can count me in!
On a side note if I start a tune with Mellon through email and we don't finish by the time he gets out here will he finish in person at no extra charge or am I gonna have to pay again??
