CA people, test pipe or hfc?

*my car is stock mitsubishi* but if i were to mod

still can't decide between a test pipe, or the cobb hfc, this will be ran with a tomei, im kinda scared it's gonna be uber loud with a test pipe and smell. i'm fine with losing 10-15hp due to the cat, but if a cop decides to check under, i'd still pretty much be screwed anyways right?

other option is the RRE rally cat which has the cat looking heat shields

how much quieter will a hfc make a tomei?

I am in california, i run a test pipe. If you have a Tomei Ti exhaust run a test pipe. My friend is doing that and it sounds nice. Not too loud. Louder than my AMS TBE but it sounds way nicer. HFC is setting yourself up for failure.

I've been running a Megan TBE w/res. TP for the past four years, never pulled over for the exhaust. I've been pulled over for Tinted windows 4x, no front plate 4x, exhaust 0. Knock on wood!

I did a RTP on my 8. It was well worth it in the end. Alot less drone in the car and a deeper/crisper tone out the back.

legally there's no difference, both are illegal. i'd get the RRE rally cat. its a resonated test pipe that looks very much like a stock cat.

I have an RRE Rallycat and it's nice to not be paranoid of having a cop look under my car.
