Mazda Rev-It-Up @ SoCal
There are 2 events in Southern California this year.
1. March 13~14 @ Orange County - El Toro Marine Corp Air Station
2. March 20~21 @ San Diego - Qualcomm Stadium
This has nothing to do with the official SCLC meet. (well NOT YET; still in discussion)
This is listed just so everybody in Socal who wants to go to any of the 2 events above can know where/when the rest of us are going.
Also if you've gone last year, tell us about your experience.
1. drummerjun (Joe) - 3/13 @ OC [Group #11: 1020/1040/1220/1320 hrs]
2. SC - 3/13 @ OC [Group #5]
3. evogal - 3/13 @ OC [Group #15]
4. bri(e)vo - 3/21 @ SD

I'm signed up for group 5 on Saturday 3-13 at the El Toro.
The Revitup event was fun last year when I attended it in DC. I'd imagine it'll be great this year also. You get to royally abuse someone elses car! This year we'll get to run MAzda3's. they should be a bit lighter and more nimble than the Mazda6's last year.

The Revit up is basically an autocross where you drive one of Mazda's specially prepped cars. You race to get the best time. And if you don't qualify as an expert (which most every autocrosser will), you get a handicap calculation factored into your time.
When you aren't racing you can drive in one of the car control clinics, test drive mazdas, play video games, check out vendor booths or just hang out and try to win some free prizes.
Last year my run time was in the top 10% of drivers (there were like 2000 drivers that weekend). Some of the entrants at the DC revitup included professional racers we all know....Neal Sapp for example was running a few slots ahead of me.
I highly recommend this event for people who want to try out autocross but are afraid to do it in their own cars. But it is tons of fun and is a fun way to spend a few hours on a saturday!

People from all walks of life show up to this thing. Old ladies to professional race drivers. The only people who made fools of themselves, IMO, were the people who signed up but were too afraid to actually drive on course.
Before you even set foot in a car, you go through a drivers clinic where they show you what and how to do things. You will have the basics down pat before you drive for times.
