Well seein’ how Jamie made sure we ended with one of these new filters (very quickly) we decided to give the Smurfy one the go ahead for Sunday’s race. I’ve used K & Ns for a very, very long time so I know what to expect from them. Like most Evo owners however I don’t like oil soaked filters, the K & N was still dripin’ oil after sitting out for almost a week. Don’t need an oil soaked MAF too!
The WORKS filter delivers a similar improvement, mostly improved throttle response and enhanced drivability. On the autox course I quickly discovered that I was able to use much more 3rd gear. Throttle transitions were much smoother and pick-up a little quicker. All in all, a good filter.

I picked mine up last weekend...... i'm not sure if its just my butt dyno that needs recalibration.... but the car feels more responsive throughout the powerband....

Too much sand where I live to run any type of KNN style AF. High Silicon levels in used oil Analysis. Air filters work better (filter) when slightly clogged. I will trade H/P for lower wear levels any day.

I have been running this filter and the car is more responsive and pulls better too. My car is still stock for now so my question is how much HP will this drop in to a stock Evo?

Just to say awsome product. Went to the tracks with my buddy, and we both are running stock 05's, but his has the SSL package. I have the Works air filter and he had K&N. We were pretty much neck and neck, until end of third gear into 4th that's when I start to pull away from him. We did it 4 times and all four time I start to pull aways at the same time. We both concluded that it was the filter that was the major difference. (If you think it was weight, because of the sunroof, well, I had a 60-75 lb sub in my trunk and I out wiegh him by about 50 pound. My best time was 13.8 with a trap speed of 99.6.
Thanks Works for making such an awsome product.
