The O2 housing and 76mm DP are in stock and the redesigned 70mm DP should be available in about a month.

Just keep the stock cat-back and get a downpipe and high flow cat. The cat-back is essentially the "bling" section of the exhaust anyway. Power gains for cat-backs are overrated IMHO.

+1

I partially agree with that statement. I am running a "test pipe" with the stock down pipe and stock cat back. I would say the gains of a "test pipe" alone is greater than any aftermarket cat-back exhaust system today.

Now later on down the road if I decide to upgrade for the "bling" factor I would go with something titanium and used/2nd hand off course

The muffler is what provides the restriction in the cat-back. There's the flapper in the VIII and just a few mediocre holes in the IX that force the majority of the gases through a convoluted pathway before they're allowed to exit. Good for noise suppression, not so good for flow. Retaining the original IP isn't going to rob you of a significant amount of power until further along with modifications.

Has anyone tired just drilling out the baffle in the IX muffler? Sounds like it would be pretty easy ....

Have you tried sticking a drill inside the inlet pipe? If it could be done, we'd be doing it. However, the "right" way to do it is to plasma cut, weld, grind, paint and polish. Everything else just hasn't come out properly.
